About College Experience
An online cultural exchange program that offers international students the opportunity to understand different aspects of the American culture by remotely exploring the life of a University in the United States.
The initiative, created in 2021, consists of an orientation program that teaches transversal skills in the fields of Science, Economics, and Humanities. The program is delivered through online activities (both synchronous and asynchronous) on a dedicated e-Learning platform.
The idea is to expose incoming international students to the American culture, values, and society as well as having them experience what's like to be in a academic environment. By doing this, they can understand higher education better, improve their language skills, get settled in the US, connect with people and resources, and ultimately, be successful.
How it works
The initiative is designed to help International Students Offices welcome international students. Institutions can partner with QIRIS and have their classes participate in College Experience. There are several programs available having different duration and content depending on the school and specific interests of the school.

Different programs enable students to diversify their skills, improve their English, get prepared for university, and become citizens of the world.
Entirely online
The initiative consists of a cultural exchange experience realized online in order to enable schools and their students to participate.
Asynchronous content
All the material in College Experience can be experienced asynchronously through a dedicated e-Learning platform, to ensure flexibility and equal participation.
Objectives and contents
The aim of the program is to provide high school students with rich university orientation that enables them to learn about the American culture, learn new skills, improve their English proficiency, and explore opportunities for studying in the United States.
Multidisciplinary STEAM training
College Experience offers courses that enables students to learn transversal skills in the fields of Computer Science, Economics and Human Sciences.
Inclusive civic and cultural education
Exploring the American society and its multicultural and inclusive values provides students with an opportunity to reflect on how to shape the future of mankind.
Practice with the English language
All the content of College Experience is taught in English and subtitled, to stimulate students to improve their English language skills.
Understanding of cultural differences in the US
The program invites students to reflect about the differences and similarities between the countries and learn how to face current and future challenges together.
Engaging peer learning activities
During the initiative, students come into contact with their American colleagues, and they establish a direct dialogue beyond international borders.
Incentive to Brain circulation dynamics
The program enables students to learn about opportunities in the world, and prevents brain drain by incentivizing talent and brain circulation.
Preparation for in-person exchange programs
Although College Experience takes place as a remote program, it prepares students to approach in-person study abroad programs with increased awareness.
Strengthening international relations
College Experience aims at creating a connection with the American culture and university and prepare students to be citizens of the world.

College Experience is realized with the support of the US State Department - Mission US-Italy, which identified the initiative among the best proposals for strengthening the relations with the United States.
